The Campaign to Save Lives
The deaths of innocent bystanders and officers listed on these pages proves that we have a problem. PursuitSAFETY is committed to saving the lives of innocent bystanders and officers.
Education = Public Awareness = Lives Saved
Our Campaign
-
Four things you can do:
- Learn the Facts.
- Teach Young People to Pull Over. Our educational program, "Pull Over; Have No Regrets," targets young drivers, with emphasis on teens who reside in juvenile hall. Most drivers who flee are between the ages of 16-25. Dr. Geoffrey Alpert, an international expert on high-risk police activity, refers to it as the "young, dumb and stupid" syndrome. Parents, educators, and the public of all ages need to teach young drivers that police pursuits kill—that the consequences for pulling over are much less than what could happen if they flee. Many times when drivers flee from the police, it leads to their death and the deaths of innocent bystanders.”
- Help Us Help Others. We need and appreciate your tax-deductible donation in any amount you can give, be it $5, $10, $25, $50 or more.

PursuitSAFETY does not want to ban all vehicular police chases.
PursuitSAFETY believes chases should only be conducted when there is no other way to apprehend a fleeing driver who poses an imminent threat to public safety, i.e., to prevent future injuries and deaths.
PursuitSAFETY is a national nonprofit organization that joins together people and families who care about public safety.
Research proves that when citizens become aware of the inherent risk of injuries to and deaths of innocent people, they will no longer support a "chase at all cost" pursuit policy or reckless negligence when an officer responds to a call.
PursuitSAFETY's Goals:
- Work to implement the above concepts;
- Be a resource for innocent victims and their families due to crashes from police chases and police response calls;
- Educate the public, potential high-risk offenders, police, and press about the inherent risk of death and injury to the innocent and officers as a result of vehicular police chases and police response calls;
- Conduct research;
- Provide a resource for law enforcement for the development and implementation of safe and responsible police chase and police response call policies, procedures, practices and laws; and
- Sponsor programs and support pursuit polices that strike an appropriate balance between (a) apprehending fleeing drivers or answering police response calls and (b) ensuring public safety.
PursuitSAFETY appreciates your support and participation.
